The EU-funded M-ERA.NET has selected the Cellu4Heal project, led by Kamal Mustafa and Stian Kreken Almeland, as one of five projects to receive funding under the “Advanced Materials and Technologies for Health Applications” call. The project, supported by over 1 million euros from research councils in Norway, Finland, and Romania, aims to develop a biodegradable matrix using mesenchymal stem cells to treat severe burn injuries. This innovative approach seeks to accelerate healing, reduce inflammation and scarring, and improve outcomes for patients with life-threatening burn injuries. The funding is connected to ongoing MRCRM research on stem cell-based wound healing therapies.
