Our PhD Students Present at TERMIS-EU 2025!

We are proud to share that two of our PhD candidates showcased their cutting-edge research at the TERMIS-EU 2025 conference, held this spring.

🧬 Nora Marek delivered an oral presentation in the symposium on Novel Immunomodulatory Approaches. Her talk, titled “Functionalized nanodiamond coatings mitigate polymer-induced inflammation in human macrophages”, highlighted how polycaprolactone (PCL) scaffolds coated with functionalized nanodiamond particles can modulate macrophage responses. The findings point toward a promising strategy for reducing implant-induced inflammation and enhancing immune-driven bone regeneration.

🔬 Francesco Torelli presented a poster in the Microscopy & Advanced Imaging session, entitled “In vivo evaluation of hydroxyapatite-functionalized and BMP-2-supplemented photocrosslinkable injectable hydrogels for bone regeneration applications”. Using a rat calvarial defect model, the study demonstrated that the hydrogel formulation significantly improved bone healing, mineral density, and defect bridging—underscoring its potential as a biomaterial for critical-size bone defects.

👏 Congratulations to Nora and Francesco for representing our group and contributing to the future of regenerative medicine!
