10 Thon-millioner til beinbygging

In the EU project REBONE, Kamal Mustafa and Cecilie Gjerde have worked on making jawbones by using the patients’ own stem cells. The results of the clinical trials have been promising and in collaboration with the Orthopedic Department at Haukeland University Hospital, the research team is now expanding the project and will make bones to other parts of the body. They are now in the initial phase of the clinical trials of the new project, and the ten millions they have received from the Olav Thon Foundation come in handy. It is a great recognition to receive this award.
