Congratulations to Dr. Serhat Aydin on Successfully Defending His PhD

We are delighted to congratulate Serhat, our PhD candidate, on the successful completion of his PhD at the University of Bergen on August 25, 2026.

As part of the doctoral examination, he successfully delivered his trial lecture, “Digital Design and AI in Scaffold Fabrication: The Future of Biomaterials Engineering,” before proceeding to the public defense of his doctoral dissertation, “3D-Printed Polymeric Scaffolds for Bone Tissue Engineering – Tailoring Porosity, Surface and Degradation.”

Successfully completing both the trial lecture and the public defense represents an important milestone in academic and research career.

His doctoral research focused on the development and characterization of advanced 3D-printed polymeric scaffolds for bone tissue engineering. His work explored how scaffold porosity, surface properties, degradation behavior, and bioactive components can be tailored to improve the biological and functional performance of scaffolds for bone regeneration.

Throughout his PhD, he has made valuable contributions to the fields of biomaterials and tissue engineering, with research involving 3D printing, scaffold design and fabrication, nanocellulose-based materials, cell culture, material characterization, and computational approaches. His research has also resulted in more than 10 peer-reviewed scientific publications.

We warmly congratulate Dr. Serhat Aydin on this well-deserved achievement and recognize his dedication, hard work, and contributions throughout his doctoral research.

We are proud of this achievement and look forward to seeing his continued contributions to the fields of biomaterials, 3D bioprinting, artificial intelligence, and bone tissue engineering.
